Turtle Beach Z2 Headset
The Turtle Beach Z2’s Grabbed my attention due to the popularity of Turtle Beach headsets, and the notoriety they have as being “THE” gaming headset to use.
My first impression upon taking them out of the packaging, Was they looked damn good. Upon looking at the cable there are several noticeable things about it, For one thing, It is Long, 3 metres long in fact, The cable feels durable with standard 3.5mm Audio and microphone jacks, and closer to the headset, It presents the ability to disconnect most of the cable with a connection which looks to be a PS/2 connection, providing the ability to switch it to another breakaway cable if you have separate ones for consoles and PC. On the cable that breaks away is an inline volume control with a microphone switch, And also has a 2.5mm hole for a cable to plug into Xbox 360 controllers, Which must be purchased separately if you wish to use it as a Xbox 360 headset.
The headset though, I must say despite the fact I love the look of it has some flaws, The padding which rests on top of your head is too thin and hard to actually feel comfortable especially with the weight of the headset I find it a bit uncomfortable, also the ear cup padding is material which is a good thing, but it is really thick and hard, which I find very irritable due to the pressure it puts onto the sides of your head, after a while I got used to it, and the volume control and mic switch feel odd with the sides they are on, But despite The negatives, which are very few, I still love the headset and here is why.
- Great sound clarity, bass is good and the sound can stay crystal clear even if you turn the volume right up.
- The microphone despite always visible looks good, and performs even better, I was surprised at how clear it comes out, And how flexible it is.
- Ear cups swivel, Who doesn’t like swiveling ear cups?
- They Look DAMN GOOD!
And for the surround sound lover’s you won’t be disappointed either, You can purchase the 7.1 surround sound card adapter to turn it into a full surround sound head set.. pure ear drum bliss!
To round it of though and despite how it felt at first, I’m used to them now, and thoroughly enjoy the headset, if only the cushioning was better it would go close to being the perfect stereo headset!
