Featuring a fully modular cable design system, this unit takes the guesswork out of what cable goes where when it comes to cable installation and management. A plethora of flat ribbon cables featuring various pin connectors are supplied in 2 handy carry cases for safe keeping for later use. A total of 12 each of PCIe and SATA connectors are supplied. Installing the PSU was a breeze, it’s as simple as sliding the unit into the your PC case and screwing in the four screws provided. I’m usually intimidated by the task of building a PC, but the V1200 (despite its weight) is quite possibly the easiest PSU I’ve ever installed. I estimate it took me all of 2 minutes, if that.
The cabling system allows you to manage airflow around your peripherals and keep your system neat and tidy. Gone are the days with cables poking out all over the place with the V1200. To summarise, if you want a clean build in your case, the V1200 is the way to go.
Unlike several lower quality PSU’s on the market, this unit is quiet. So quite in fact that after I installed it in my case the only way I knew it was actually on from the LED’s that were light up through the case. Why is it so quiet? The V1200 features a high quality 135mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) hybrid fan. This fan, totally controlled by you (handy switch on the back of the power supply) allows you to toggle between the normal fan and the hybrid zero DBA fanless operation. The hybrid fan really shows its power when under full load, yet is remains extremely quiet whilst still offering superior performance.
In addition to being quieter than a ninja, easy to install and pretty to look at, the V1200 is extremely efficient. It has been 80 PLUS platinum certified (93% efficiency at 50% load). The 80 PLUS performance specification requires power supplies in computers and servers to be 80% or greater energy efficient at 10, 20, 50 and 100% of rated load with a true power factor of 0.9 or greater. This makes an 80 PLUS certified power supply substantially more efficient than typical power supplies. Whilst the V1200 could be considered to be a little expensive to purchase upfront, it will save you money in the long run, particularly if you use the hybrid fan’s intelligent auto-off function.
- 7 year warranty
- Silent operation
- Extremely efficient
- Expensive (though it is worth it)
In a nutshell – The V1200 is the ultimate power supply for both gamers and PC enthusiasts who want to get the most out of their systems. Acquiring one will not only meet the demands of hard-core gaming today, but also the demands of future games and components for quite some time.
