Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Drops Release Date in New Trailer
Marvel vs. Capcom has announced its release date in a new story trailer. The latest entry in the beloved franchise will hit shelves on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 19, 2017.
Alongside that, we got our first look at the plot of the game’s story mode. Using the Infinity Stones, Ultron Sigma, a robotic synthesis of the iconic Marvel villain Ultron and (shockingly) Sigma the big-bad of Mega Man X, have fused the Marvel and Capcom universes together in an attempt to eradicate all biological life. It will be up to the Avengers, Mega Man and a completely out-of-his-depth Chris Redfield to stop him.
A follow-up post on Capcom Unity confirmed the new additions to the game’s roster, some of which are only available as DLC:
• Rocket Raccoon
• Strider Hiryu
• Chris Redfield
Notable absent from the line-up are any mention of the X-men, a long-running standard of the franchise. Speculation suggests that disagreements between Disney and Sony for the use of mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be spilling over into games.
Regardless, we’ll still have to wait until the full roster is released. In the meantime, the chaotic and over the top gameplay in the trailer seems to be a good indicated that Capcom is staying true to the franchise. Check it out the full trailer below:
