Mario – Gold Edition amiibo Release Date Announced
The release date for the much coveted Mario – Gold Edition amiibo was announced by Nintendo on Wednesday morning.
The release date is the 25th of June, and is exclusive to Target stores in Australia both online and in store, with strictly one available per customer. At this point, no time has been given as to when the Mario – Gold Edition amiibo will be available online.
Besides its rarity, Mario – Gold Edition amiibo functions as a Mario amiibo in all games with amiibo compatibility.
Acquiring a Mario – Gold Edition amiibo will be quite a feat for even the most dedicated amiibo collector, due to the combination of Target not having a preorder system online or in store, and as reported last month, Australia only receives 3% of the world’s amiibo allocation.
For an amiibo collector such as myself, this news comes as further concern, with Target stores receiving limited amiibo stock in the past, but provides substance for war stories years in the future, to tell a younger generation stories of triumphing against corporations and scalpers in the face of limited stock.
This news comes after the release of Mario – Silver Edition amiibo, which was exclusive to EB Games and was released on the 30th of May.
Also released on the 25th of June is Yoshi’s Woolly World for the Wii U, which has promised amiibo compatibility for over 40 amiibo, and three Yarn Yoshi amiibo in green, pink and blue.
