Jackbox launches new Kickstarter campaign for latest party game, 'Quiplash'
It’s undeniable: The Jackbox Party Pack is a must-have game. I bring my Xbox One to every barbecue and games night I can and the Party Pack always provokes uproarious laughter from every person present. When we heard that Jackbox were launching a Kickstarter campaign for their latest game, we had to share the news!
Jackbox Games, the independent developer behind the magnetic party games YOU DON’T KNOW JACK®, Fibbage and Drawful, today announced their newest must-have interactive fiesta – Quiplash.
Quiplash is a witty party game designed with the same irreverence that made The Jackbox Party Pack™ one of 2014’s best multiplayer experiences. Up to eight players compete against one another to improvise clever responses to open-ended questions like “An alternate use for a banana” or “Something you’d be surprised to see a donkey do” before turning to a group vote to determine the best and/or funniest answers.
Quiplash is being developed for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, and PC via Steam. Only one person needs to own the game to play; everyone else can join in using their mobile phone, tablet or internet-connected device as a controller. What’s more, Quiplash allows a huge number of spectators who aren’t playing to vote for their favorite one-liners and impact the game’s outcome, making it perfect for engaging audiences through Twitch.
Jackbox has had a kernel of the Quiplash idea on the back burner since the release of The Jackbox Party Pack late last year, but the modest 13-person studio has up to this point been unable to give the project the full attention it deserves. To that end, the team is reaching out to the community through Kickstarter to raise the resources necessary to get Quiplash polished and in the hands of players quickly. Jackbox has set a starting goal of $15,000 for the campaign, aiming to deliver a final product early this summer if successful.
The Kickstarter for Quiplash is already live at http://bit.ly/quiplash, where Jackbox provides a more comprehensive breakdown of the title and what it’s offering to backers in exchange for their support.
